{"id":4393,"date":"2025-09-09T08:43:57","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T01:43:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wtcconnect.net\/?p=4393"},"modified":"2025-09-17T08:45:50","modified_gmt":"2025-09-17T01:45:50","slug":"vietnam-ranks-3rd-in-southeast-asia-for-e-commerce-value","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wtcconnect.net\/en\/vietnam-ranks-3rd-in-southeast-asia-for-e-commerce-value\/","title":{"rendered":"VIETNAM RANKS 3RD IN SOUTHEAST ASIA FOR E-COMMERCE VALUE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"187\" data-end=\"362\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Vietnam\u2019s e-commerce market surpassed USD 25 billion in 2024, growing 20% year-on-year and securing the 3rd position in Southeast Asia, following Indonesia and Thailand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"364\" data-end=\"610\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">On September 5, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) announced at the forum \u201cE-commerce Landscape and Cross-border E-commerce \u2013 Pathways for Vietnamese Export Businesses\u201d, part of the Vietnam International Sourcing 2025 exhibition, that:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"612\" data-end=\"1034\">\n<li data-start=\"612\" data-end=\"712\">\n<p data-start=\"614\" data-end=\"712\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Vietnam\u2019s e-commerce market value in 2024 exceeded USD 25 billion, marking a 20% growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"713\" data-end=\"959\">\n<p data-start=\"715\" data-end=\"959\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">This accounts for around 10% of the nation\u2019s total retail and consumer services revenue, positioning Vietnam among the top 3 e-commerce markets in Southeast Asia, after Indonesia (USD 65 billion) and Thailand (USD 26 billion).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"960\" data-end=\"1034\">\n<p data-start=\"962\" data-end=\"1034\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">By 2030, the market size is projected to reach USD 63 billion.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1036\" data-end=\"1074\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">SECTORS DRIVING E-COMMERCE GROWTH<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1075\" data-end=\"1105\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">According to YouNet ECI:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1106\" data-end=\"1286\">\n<li data-start=\"1106\" data-end=\"1189\">\n<p data-start=\"1108\" data-end=\"1189\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) recorded the strongest growth at 62%.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1190\" data-end=\"1240\">\n<p data-start=\"1192\" data-end=\"1240\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Home appliances &amp; technology grew 41%.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1241\" data-end=\"1286\">\n<p data-start=\"1243\" data-end=\"1286\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Fashion and accessories rose 39%.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1288\" data-end=\"1323\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">VIETNAMESE BRANDS GOING GLOBAL<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1324\" data-end=\"1732\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang emphasized that more Vietnamese brands and local products are expanding to international markets via global e-commerce platforms. Vietnamese businesses are building their online presence not only in the U.S., China, EU, Japan, and South Korea but also tapping into emerging opportunities in ASEAN, the Middle East, Russia, and Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1734\" data-end=\"1784\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">CROSS-BORDER E-COMMERCE \u2013 A NATIONAL STRATEGY<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1785\" data-end=\"2454\">\n<li data-start=\"1785\" data-end=\"1934\">\n<p data-start=\"1787\" data-end=\"1934\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">In 2024, the global cross-border e-commerce market reached USD 791.5 billion and is forecast to grow at over 30% in the coming years.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1935\" data-end=\"2102\">\n<p data-start=\"1937\" data-end=\"2102\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">For Vietnam, cross-border e-commerce is no longer just a business trend but a national export strategy, integrated into the Government\u2019s GoGlobal Plan.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2103\" data-end=\"2454\">\n<p data-start=\"2105\" data-end=\"2248\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Under the National E-commerce Development Master Plan 2026\u20132030, cross-border e-commerce is considered a strategic pillar, aiming to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2251\" data-end=\"2454\">\n<li data-start=\"2251\" data-end=\"2304\">\n<p data-start=\"2253\" data-end=\"2304\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Build a sustainable digital export ecosystem.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2307\" data-end=\"2370\">\n<p data-start=\"2309\" data-end=\"2370\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Enhance Vietnamese enterprises\u2019 global competitiveness.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2373\" data-end=\"2454\">\n<p data-start=\"2375\" data-end=\"2454\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Elevate the position of Made-in-Vietnam products on the global trade map.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2456\" data-end=\"2488\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">GOVERNMENT SUPPORT MEASURES<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2489\" data-end=\"2619\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency are implementing comprehensive initiatives:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2620\" data-end=\"2942\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2620\" data-end=\"2666\">\n<p data-start=\"2622\" data-end=\"2666\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Improving legal and policy frameworks.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2667\" data-end=\"2733\">\n<p data-start=\"2669\" data-end=\"2733\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Supporting businesses with training and capacity building.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2734\" data-end=\"2794\">\n<p data-start=\"2736\" data-end=\"2794\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Connecting with leading global e-commerce platforms.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2795\" data-end=\"2942\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2797\" data-end=\"2942\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Working closely with Vietnam Trade Offices abroad to promote Vietnamese products and facilitate exports through digital trade channels.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vietnam\u2019s e-commerce market surpassed USD 25 billion in 2024, growing 20% year-on-year and securing the 3rd position in Southeast Asia, following Indonesia and Thailand.
