BECAMEX PARTNERS WITH IFC TO BUILD ESG PLATFORM FOR SUSTAINABLE INDUSTRY IN HO CHI MINH CITY
On July 16, 2025, at Sheraton Saigon Grand Opera Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City, Becamex Group and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, officially signed a cooperation agreement to implement the Eco-Industrial Park (EIP) assessment program across industrial-urban areas developed by Becamex and VSIP.
Strengthening Vietnam’s Sustainable Industrial Development
This strategic move marks a continuation of the partnership between Becamex Group and the World Bank Group since 2022, during which both parties conducted technical support programs for pre-feasibility and feasibility studies to develop Vietnam’s first EIP. The new agreement expands the scale, moves pilot models closer to global standards, and lays a vital foundation for accessing green finance sources.
Through the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Program (GEIPP), IFC will support Becamex in conducting preliminary assessments for up to five industrial parks following international EIP certification frameworks. These assessments will help identify strengths, gaps, and improvement opportunities related to governance, environmental, social, and economic performance—forming the basis for future technical planning, operational improvement, and investment mobilization.

Accelerating Green Transition and Defining a New Industrial Future
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Hoan Vu, CEO of Becamex Group , emphasized that the EIP model is a core component of Becamex Group’s next-generation industrial zone strategy. Here, industry is not just a production hub but part of a living, working, learning, and creative ecosystem designed for sustainability.
He added, “ESG standards are no longer optional; they are mandatory if Vietnam wants to retain its key role in the global supply chain and attract selective, high-quality investments. Today’s agreement is not just a technical start but a strategic step toward deeper collaborations, including green operations transition, renewable energy integration, circular resource management, digital infrastructure integration, and enhanced emissions monitoring. Importantly, it will strengthen our access to green finance from IFC and international development partners to realize higher-standard industrial and infrastructure projects.”
Pioneering Green Urban-Industrial Ecosystem
Beyond the partnership, the event served as a forum for aligning visions and driving industrial model transformation toward a green and sustainable economy, contributing to Vietnam’s circular economy goals and its commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050.
Ms. Diep Nguyen van-Houtte, Global Senior Manager, Climate Business Department of IFC, remarked: “As Vietnam strives to elevate its position in the global supply chain, adopting the EIP model will greatly support sustainable growth ambitions. This strategic step promises to enhance Vietnam’s green competitiveness, significantly reduce emissions, attract high-quality investments, and most importantly, create better, greener jobs. IFC is proud to partner with Becamex to promote this vital green industrial transformation, benefiting both the economy and the environment.”

A Step Toward Green Urban-Industrial Integration in HCMC
At the event, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, highlighted the importance of this initiative, noting that the National Assembly has passed a resolution to establish the Vietnam International Financial Center in HCMC and Da Nang. He emphasized that the collaboration between Becamex and IFC is a meaningful move, attracting resources to help HCMC realize its goals not just as a financial hub but as a model of a green, sustainable urban-industrial ecosystem.

The Vice Chairman applauded Becamex Group and IFC’s efforts and encouraged them to explore further green projects beyond industrial zones, aiming to transform pilot models into widespread solutions within the city’s ecosystem. As HCMC enters a new development phase with integrated regional, urban, and industrial planning, Becamex Group is committed to continuing its strategic partnership with the city to build smart, ecological industrial-urban-service models, contributing to Vietnam’s net-zero pledge by 2050.
