THE IMPACT OF GREEN LOGISTICS: A CRUCIAL FACTOR FOR VIETNAMESE BUSINESSES IN THE GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN

23.09.2025

In the context of globalization and sustainable development, “going green” has become an urgent requirement rather than an option for the logistics industry. Experts warn that without timely transformation; Vietnam’s logistics sector risks being excluded from the global supply chain.

A Mandatory Trend: From Products to Transportation

According to Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director General of the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), international partners are not only setting requirements for green products but are also extending these criteria to transportation processes. This demonstrates that the “green” factor has become a mandatory standard and a critical determinant for the survival of logistics businesses in Vietnam.

Mr. Dao Trong Khoa, Chairman of the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA), also emphasized the urgent need for a comprehensive transformation to meet the new market demands. Many multinational corporations, such as Lego and Daikin, have incorporated green criteria into cooperation contracts, creating both pressure and motivation for Vietnamese enterprises to adapt.

Practical Transformation: Pioneering Initiatives

A typical example is ITL Logistics. Mr. Le Duc Khoi, CEO of the company, shared the green solutions already being implemented:

  • Renewable energy: Installing solar panels at facilities.
  • Technology application: Using smart dispatching software and artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize cargo consolidation and reduce empty trips.
  • Fleet innovation: Transitioning to environmentally friendly vehicles such as electric cars and gas-powered trucks.

These solutions not only help reduce carbon emissions but also improve operational efficiency and create a foundation for sustainable competitive advantage.

The Importance of Collaboration and Sharing

To support the business community in digital transformation and green development, the Vietnam International Logistics Exhibition (VILOG 2025) will be held under the theme: “Digital Transformation – Green Development in Logistics.” The event will provide a platform for more than 300 domestic and international enterprises to showcase technological solutions and sustainable business models, contributing to the creation of a greener logistics ecosystem in Vietnam.

WTC Connect: The B2B Networking Platform – The Future Supply Community

To further support enterprises, WTC Connect was developed with the vision of becoming a strategic and breakthrough bridge between domestic and international businesses. Joining WTC Connect not only creates opportunities for brand promotion, partner connection, and market expansion but also contributes to building a dynamic, innovative, and sustainable supply community in Ho Chi Minh City.
